The lawsuits of ECML/PKDD2003 are released in volumes: the P- ceedings of the 14th ecu convention on computing device studying (LNAI 2837) and the complaints of the seventh eu convention on rules and perform of data Discovery in Databases (LNAI 2838). the 2 meetings have been hung on September 22–26, 2003 in Cavtat, a small vacationer city within the region of Dubrovnik, Croatia. As computing device studying and data discovery are hugely similar ?elds, theco-locationofbothconferencesisbene?cialforbothresearchcommunities.In Cavtat, ECML and PKDD have been co-located for the 3rd time in a row, following the profitable co-location of the 2 eu meetings in Freiburg (2001) and Helsinki (2002). The co-location of ECML2003 and PKDD2003 ended in a joint application for the 2 meetings, together with paper shows, invited talks, tutorials, and workshops. Out of 332 submitted papers, forty have been permitted for e-book within the ECML2003proceedings,and40wereacceptedforpublicationinthePKDD2003 lawsuits. all of the submitted papers have been reviewed by means of 3 referees. In advert- tion to submitted papers, the convention application consisted of 4 invited talks, 4 tutorials, seven workshops, tutorials mixed with a workshop, and a discovery challenge.
